Funeral Mass for Dorothy Martin, 88, of Killdeer, ND will be 10 a. m. Saturday, September 15, 2007, at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church, Killdeer with Father James Shea celebrating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery north of Killdeer. Visitation will be from 12 p. m. to 9 p. m. , Friday September 14, 2007 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Killdeer with a Rosary and Vigil service taking place at 7 p. m. Dorothy Bertha Martin was born July 22, 1919 the daughter of Pete and Carrie (Beck) Peterson in Killdeer, ND. She grew up on the family ranch northwest of Killdeer and attended the country grade school there. Dorothy finished her schooling in Killdeer graduating from Killdeer High School in 1938. She married Arthur Martin on August 31, 1940 in Sidney, MT. The couple made their home on the ranch and it was here where they raised their family of three children. They called the ranch home until 1994 when the couple retired to Killdeer. Dorothy spent the last thirteen years as a residence at the Hill Top Home of Comfort in Killdeer. Dorothy was an active member of the Killdeer Mountain Homemakers Club for over forty five years; a leader of 4-H and a Teachers Aide within the Killdeer school system for several years. She was also on the council at Hill Top Home of Comfort. Dorothy loved visiting with family and friends and enjoyed all types of crafts. One of her many talents was crocheting, as she has made numerous afghans over the years. One of life?s pleasures for Dorothy was taking trips throughout the North Dakota Badlands and finding a ?hill over the river? where they could enjoy a picnic. Dorothy is survived by two sons: Bob (Sandy) Martin, Coalinga, CA and Ron (Esther) Martin, Killdeer, ND; one daughter: Maryann (Jerry) Fettig, Dickinson, ND; seven grandchildren: Doug (Susanne) Fettig, Craig (Kammy) Fettig, Audie (Kim) Martin, Andrew (Jamie) Martin, Amanda Martin, Tyrell Martin and Jordan Martin and eight great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by: both of her parents; husband, Arthur; a sister Maribelle Summerfield and an infant brother, Bevey.
