Funeral Mass for Dorothy Marie Steffes, 85, of Plevna will be 11:00 a. m. , Tuesday, November 25, 2013 at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Plevna. Father Thomas Tobin will be celebrating. Burial will be in the St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, Plevna, MTVisitation will be held from 4:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. , Monday, November 25, 2013 with a rosary being recited at 7:00 p. m. , visitation will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to the Funeral Mass at St. Anthony’s Catholic ChurchDorothy passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013 at her home in Plevna. Dorothy was born on October 17, 1928 the daughter of John and Burnetta (Bergman) Thielen in Fallon County. She grew up and attended the Dry Fork Country School through the 8th grade. Dorothy graduated from the Plevna High School 1946. She was married to Lawrence Steffes on September 29, 1949 in the St. Anthony Catholic Church. To this union four children were born, Janice, Carol, Judy and Larry. Together Dorothy and Lawrence ranched, farmed and raised their children on their ranch west of Plevna. In the late 80’s they retired and moved into Plevna where Dorothy has made her home since. Dorothy had a love for animals of all types she would name each one even her milk cows. She enjoyed milking so much that after moving to town she still would drive out to the farm twice a day to milk. In her younger years Dorothy enjoyed riding horses especially Blue and Sonny. Dorothy loved to follow her grandchildren to all of their events and was a very proud Plevna Cougar fan. She would often be seen sitting with the same group in the same spot at every game in the gym. Dorothy enjoyed playing card games especially a good game of Whist and occasionally pulling on the one armed bandits for a chance of luck. She would enjoy a cup of coffee at the Coffee Shop and later at the Senior Citizens Center. Dorothy was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church, The Parrish Council of Catholic Women and the Senior Citizens Center. Survivors include three daughters, Janice M. (J. D. VanHorn special friend) Abraham, Marmarth, ND; Carol Bridgers, Belle Fourche, SD and Judy (Steve) Ehrich, Piedmont, SD; a son, Larry (Carmie) Steffes, Plevna; a sister-in-law, Ruthie Thielen, Plevna; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lawrence.
