A small service for family and close friends of Dorothy Tuhy, 90, will be Friday, November 12, 2021 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, North Dakota.
Dorothy passed away Monday, November 1, 2021 at St. Luke’s Nursing Home in Dickinson, North Dakota.
Dorothy was born on June 27, 1931 in Billings County, North Dakota, the daughter of Frank and Emma (Hushka) Haller.
Dorothy was married to Vincent Tuhy on July 9, 1951 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dickinson. After Vincent’s discharge from the US Navy, they moved from Norfolk, Virginia to a farm north of South Heart. They spent the next 55 years farming and raising their two children, Kathy and Duane. Dorothy truly enjoyed her work on the farm. She never missed out on harvest, haying, or hauling cattle.
Dorothy and Vincent retired from farming in the mid-1990s and continued to make their home on the farm. Together they enjoyed traveling to many European countries that Vincent saw during his time in the service. Dorothy was a wonderful cook and loved to bake. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Duane; son-in-law, Craig Hummel; granddaughter, Cristy Grimsley; and sister, Hyacinth Kostelecky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Emma Haller; husband, Vincent; daughter, Kathy Hummel; brother, William Haller; and brother-in-law, Larry Kostelecky.
