Dorothy Wetzel

Funeral service Dorothy Wetzel, 74, of New Salem, will be 11:00 a.m. CDT, Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Bethel Assembly of God Church, Glen Ullin, with Pastors Jerrod William and Chris Walstad officiating. Burial will follow in the Glen Ullin Cemetery.


Visitation for Dorothy will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. CDT, Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Glen Ullin with a prayer service taking place at 7:00 p.m. CDT.


Dorothy passed away Friday, January 6, 2012 at Kindred Hospital in Mandan, ND.


Dorothy Lee Joersz was born July 28, 1937 in New Salem, ND, the daughter of Paul and Emma (Heid) Joersz. She grew up in New Salem graduating from New Salem High School in 1955. After graduation, she worked at the cafe and the Hill Top Inn. On November 1, 1957, Dorothy and Henry “Hank” Wetzel were united in marriage. The couple made their home on the dairy farm west of New Salem. It was here where they raised their family of five children. Dorothy and Hank were blessed to make this their home for the rest of their lives. Dorothy was a positive, upbeat lady and worried about everyone else before herself. No one was a stranger for long. Family was very important to her and her grandchildren were her pride and joy.


Dorothy is survived by her husband, Henry Wetzel; one daughter, Carla (Tom) Wehri of New Salem; four sons, Leland (LaDonna) of Williston, Clark (Lousie) of Judson, Henry, Jr. (Sharon) of New Salem and Jeffrey (Janine) of Mandan; one brother, Donald (Ruth) Joersz of Kaholotus, WA; 11 grandchildren, Orrin Wetzel, LeOnna Wetzel, Abby Wetzel, Nikki Kraft, Joshua Wetzel, Cody (Erin) Wetzel, Nathan Wetzel , Jacob Wetzel, Alicia Wehri, Tyler Wehri, and Journey Wetzel.


She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Elmer and Paul; and one sister, Elsie.
