Mass of Christian Burial for Douglas Grant Havens, 57, of Baker, MT will be at 10:00 a. m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at St. John?s Catholic Church in Baker with the Rev. Father Thomas Tobin as celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow in St. John?s Catholic Cemetery at Baker. Visitation will be 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. on Tuesday, January 26th, at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary and Vigil service at 7:00 p. m. in the Chapel. Doug passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 22, 2010, at Fallon Medical Complex in Baker. Douglas Grant Havens was born on October 4, 1952, the son of John F. ?Jack? and Virginia Ann ?Dolly? (Nason) Havens in Miles City, MT. Doug would later be joined by a sister, Debra and a brother, David before his parents would eventually divorce. Doug grew up in Baker, MT where he attended Baker City Schools, and graduated from Baker High School in 1971. Following his graduation from high school, Doug worked for Reynolds Grocery and for Orville Stevens at the Baker Furniture Store. When Doug was in high school, Mary Alice Myhre caught his eye. After a courtship of six years, Doug and Mary Alice were married on June 15, 1974, at St. John?s Catholic Church in Baker, MT. To this union three children were born, Grant (’77), Holly (’79) and Rebecca (’92). Soon after their marriage, the young couple made their home at the Little Beaver gas plant, where Doug worked for MDU. After a couple of years, they moved into Baker where they have continued to make their home. In 1979, Doug went to work for Butte Pipeline, a subsidiary of Shell Oil, now known as Bridger Pipeline. Throughout the last 30 years in the oilfield, Doug formed many friends and always enjoyed his co-workers. Doug enjoyed being around people, and he never knew a stranger. He greatly enjoyed helping kids. He helped form and coached T-Ball in Baker and was a strong supporter of the Boy Scouts. Doug assisted many boys in earning their Eagle Badge, including his son, Grant. Doug was an avid Baker Spartan fan; most recently being Rebecca?s number one fan. Doug enjoyed hunting, camping, cooking and classic cars; helping start the Classic Cruisers Club. Doug was a devout Catholic, and was very active in the Knights of Columbus, where he was a 4th Degree Knight. Doug enjoyed serving the Church. His greatest love was for his family. He was a great dad and loved being a grandpa. He was an inspiration to all those around him. Doug is survived by his first love and soul mate, Mary Alice Havens of Baker, MT; his children, Grant (Lisa) Havens and their children, Kolton, Kaden and Kody of Casper, WY, Holly (Chris) Hutton and their children, Tyler, Travis and soon to be born child of Sheridan, WY and Rebecca Rose Havens of the family home; his brother, David (Donna) Havens of Baker, MT; his sister, Barbara (Don) Schrader of Kalispell, MT; his father, Jack (Carolyn) Havens of Hayden, ID; and his mother-in-law, Rose Myhre of Baker, MT and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dolly, his sister, Debra Ann Havens and his father-in-law, Everett Myhre. The Havens family requests Memorials be made to St. John?s Catholic Church Building Fund, the Fallon County Community Fund or the charity of your choice.
