Doug Horst

A funeral Mass for Doug Horst, 60, of Glen Ullin will be 11:00 a.m. CT, Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Jeff Zwack celebrating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart cemetery.


Visitation for Doug will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. CT, Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the church.


Doug passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Sanford Health, Bismarck.


Douglas Gordon Horst was born June 3, 1958 in Bismarck, the son of Gordon and Marietta (Braun) Horst. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Glen Ullin High School in 1976. After graduation, Doug attended Dickinson State University prior to moving back to Glen Ullin to help on the family farm. Within a couple years Doug and Craig started farming together. Doug suffered multiple health issues, causing him to retire early.


Doug was a member of the Glen Ullin Fire Department and Jaycee’s where enjoyed running the movie theater projector at the Glen Ullin Show Hall. He was also a member of the KC’s.


Doug enjoyed spending time outdoors and especially loved hunting and fishing. Doug loved his nieces and nephews. He was very jolly and energetic in celebrating birthdays and holidays, especially Christmas. He enjoyed sharing in their lives for over 30 years.


Doug is survived by his parents, Gordon and Marietta of Glen Ullin; sister, Sharon (Michael) Jeffries of Mandan; brother, Craig (Vicki) Horst of Glen Ullin; nephews, Tim Jeffries, and CJ Horst; nieces, Stephanie (Roger) Heck, Megan (Alex) Thompson, Sabrina Horst, and Savanna Horst; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.


He is preceded in death by both is maternal and paternal grandparents and, his baby brother Michael Steven Horst.
