Funeral Services for Duane Urban, 65, of Taylor, formerly of Belfield, will be 9:30 a. m. Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at the Belfield Lutheran Church with Pastor Roger Dieterle officiating. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND. Military Rites by the William C. Blair Post #144
Visitation will be 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. Tuesday, April 20, 2010, followed by a Prayer Service at 5:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson.
Duane passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2010, in Richardton.
Duane was born on May 6, 1944, to Wilhelm and Ellyn (Brennan) Urban in Beach, ND. He grew up and attended school in Fryburg. Duane worked in the oilfield for several years as a roustabout. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1969, served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1971. He then came back to North Dakota where he returned to the oilfield. Duane worked for many years on area farms and ranches. On January 16, 1980, Duane married Delores Ridl. Together they made their home in western North Dakota. Duane enjoyed fishing, tinkering, and working with wood, especially cedar. He liked to be outdoors working with cattle or showing his grandkids many things. He was always willing to help someone in need. Duane was a member of the Eagles and American Legion. He had a very strong faith and always told his family to put things in the Lord?s Hands.
Duane was preceded in death by father and a son, Bill.
He is survived by his wife, Delores Urban, Taylor, ND; mother, Ellyn Urban, Dickinson, ND; four daughters, Roseanne Urban, Morris, IL, Juanita Goetz, Morris, IL, Kim (Randy) Schaff, New Salem, ND, and Shelly (Mark) Fossiti, Seattle, WA; two sons, Shawn Burwick, Taylor, ND, and Rick Ridl, Seattle, WA; four brothers, David (Bertha) Urban, Belfield, ND, Jeff (Naomi) Urban, Belfield, ND, Bruce (Loretta) Urban, Barstow, CA, and Dwight (Laurie) Urban, Dickinson, ND; four sisters, Dorothy (Leonard) Malkowski, Belfield, ND, LaDonna (John) Hutzenbiler, Fryburg, ND, Charlotte (Bill) Martian, Rhame, ND, and Sandra Ridl, South Heart, ND; 12 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
