Dustin Richter

Dustin John “Dusty” Richter was born on October 26, 1975 in Bismarck, North Dakota to Cynthia (Bornemann) Heiser and Merrill Richter and grew up in Killdeer, North Dakota. Dusty loved sports and began wrestling at the young age of seven years old and continued through his senior year. He had a love for mentoring youth and enjoyed helping coach young wrestlers. Dusty was a hard worker and began fixing fence with Trotter Construction when he was twelve years old. He worked there every summer during his school years and attended Bismarck State College after high school. He continued to work at Trotter Construction until the age of 25. At that time, Dusty moved to Wyoming to work for a coal company where he continued to work for 16 years in Gillette. A few months after his transition to Wyoming, Dusty met Sharon Ernest and after a year of dating they were married on September 15, 2001. He and Sharon enjoyed many of the same interests. Dusty was the quiet one in their relationship and Sharon was the talker. They recently celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary. Dusty loved to be outdoors and enjoyed camping in the mountains, fishing, riding horse, four wheeling, and working on the ranch. Although Dusty had some internal struggles, his most peaceful moments were in the mountains or on a hillside somewhere with a beautiful scenic view. Dusty’s family and friends meant everything to him and he loved spending time with them and playing with his nieces and nephews. Those who knew Dusty could appreciate his unique sense of humor, big heart, and loving hugs. Dusty had a special love for animals and he and Sharon had two dogs, Jessy and Josey, and one cat, Dally. Dusty often listened to music as a way of coping with his emotions. He loved music by Chris LeDoux and found peace in his music. “And when my heart or pay is gone I climb up and just hold on. This old horse knows his way home. ” – Chris LeDouxDusty was preceded in death by his father, Merrill Richter and his grandparents, Orville and Bernice Richter. Dusty is survived by his wife, Sharon Richter, one daughter, Lynn Geving, mother, Cynthia Heiser and step father, Jerry Heiser, grandparents, Myron and Yvonne Bornemann, two sisters, Heather (Al) Ridl and Joyal (Joel) Meyer, nieces, Brae (Levi) Keck, Chloe Ridl, Averie Meyer, Alivia Ridl, Sofia and Maggie Meyer, nephews, Hudson and Talen Meyer, and great nephews, Riggs and Kolter Keck.
