Parastas for E. Roy Palaniuk, 72, of Dickinson, formerly of Fairfield, ND will be 10 a. m. , Thursday, April 24, 2008 at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church north of Belfield, ND. with Father Tarus Miles celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Cemetery, Fairfield, ND Visitation will be 9 a. m. to 9 p. m. , April 23, 2008 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, ND with a prayer service at 7 p. m. Roy passed away Sunday, April 20, 2008 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck. E. Roy Palaniuk was born May 27, 1935 the son of Stephen and Mary D. (Dolyniuk) Palaniuk in Belfield, ND. He grew up on the family farm in the Gorham area. Roy attended country school in the Belfield and Gorham area. After his school years he continued to help on the family farm, along with working on the oilfield rigs before enlisting in the US Army. When his military duties were fulfilled in Korea Roy returned home, to Fairfield and went back to work in the oilfield. On October 20, 1964, he married Ardyce Burian at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church. The couple made their home on the family farm and it was here that they raised their five children. It was during this time that Roy operated Palaniuk Trucking. He eventually turned all of his efforts to farming and continued to farm until retiring to Dickinson. Roy enjoyed playing cards especially the game of ?Race Horse?, as well as bowling. He was also fond of fishing and dancing, especially polka dances. Roy loved visiting and spending time with family and friends especially his grandkids. He was a member of St. Demetrius Ukrainian Church and the Belfield Knights of Columbus. E. Roy is survived by: his wife Ardyce, Dickinson, ND; children, Carolyn (Donald) Basaraba and their children, Douglas, David, Darren & Danielle Basaraba, Craig Palaniuk and his children, Alicia and Mariah Palaniuk; Carla (Jody) Arthaud, Dickinson, and their children, Kendra, Stephanie, Zachary (1995-2004) and Andy Arthaud, Jerry (Daisy) Palaniuk and their children, Brock, Brett, Dylan, Karli and Jazmine; Joelene (Cory) Haller, Dickinson, ND; a sister, Martha A. Kanski of Newburg, OR and mother-in-law, Olga Burian of Dickinson. Roy is preceded in death by: his parents, brother, Max Palaniuk; sister, Margie Kanski; father ?in-law, Laudie Burian and grandson Zachary Arthaud.
