Earl M. Ludwig, 87, of Baker and the Plevna area, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2003, 14 days short of his 88th birthday at the Fallon Medical Complex. He was born October 30, 1915, on the family farm north of Plevna the son of John and Adeline (Allen) Ludwig. Earl grew up on the farm and attended school through the eighth grade. He married Magdalena M. (Maggie) Wenz on September 25, 1939 in the Plevna Congregational Church. To this union Earl & Maggie raised their four children, Ethel, Earlene, Marilyn and Alvin on the family farm. In 1956 they left the farm and Earl managed several elevators around Montana. After he suffered a heart attack in 1966, they moved to Helena where he graduated from Capitol School of Business. He worked as a bookkeeper for nine years at the St. Labre Mission and was office manager from 1977 to 1980. They then moved to Billings where he was office manager at Magic City Plumbing for six years. Earl & Maggie returned to Baker in July of 1987 to retire. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Maggie of 51 years and two brothers, Melvin and Earl?s twin, Roy and a sister, Grace. Earl is survived by his loving children, Ethel (Eugene) Brost of Sidney; Earlene (Wally) Sexton of Wolf Point; Marilyn (Jerry) Heitz of Bozeman; Alvin Ludwig of Flower Mound, Texas; very good friends Ed and Myra Wickstrom; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
