Edith Carlson

Edith Carlson, 93, of Baker, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2004 at the Fallon Medical Complex. She was born October 26, 1910 at Meadow, South Dakota the daughter of Barton and Sally Alice (Hyde) Lough. Ferdy O. Carlson and Edith were married in Medora, North Dakota; June 10, 1930; to this union five children were born, Fern, Shirley, Ferdella, James and Carol. They lived at Pierce, North Dakota in Woodbury Township until 1932 when they rented a farm and came to Montana. In 1942 they bought a farm west of Willard and lived there until 1950 when they moved to town; but continued to farm. Edith loved to cook and especially bake. You would hardly be in the door when she would ask you if you would like something to eat. She loved and enjoyed her dogs and bird watching. She found a passion for oil-painting. Many of her pictures were from her earlier farming memories. In her earlier years she liked to travel. Edith lived in Billings at West Park Plaza Retirement Village for two years and has lived in the Fallon Medical Complex Nursing Home for the past three years. She was a life long member of the American Lutheran Church and was involved the Pink Ladies, Cub Scout Den Mother and Homemakers Club. Edith is survived by her daughters Fern Myhre of Baker; Carol (Charles) Plum of Billings, her son James (Pat) Carlson of Billings; two son-in-laws; James Kono of Baker and George Sieler of Sacramento, CA. 13 Grandchildren, 15 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Ferdy O. Carlson; two daughters, Shirley Ann Sieler and Ferdella Joan Kono; two brothers Lucian Lough and Donald Lough a sister Elsie Johnson. There will be a family gathering on Tuesday from 6 pm – 8 pm in the Chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be on Wednesday at 2 pm in the American Lutheran Church in Baker.
