Edith was born January 3, 1921 in Wilmont, Minnesota, the daughter of Frank and Caroline (Kaschmitter) Bremer. She grew up and attended school in Wilmont through the eighth grade. Edith married James Crippen on January 15, 1941. This couple was blessed with six children; Tom, Gloria, Don, Sue, Kathy and Debbie. The family made a move to Morris, MN in 1959 after a tragic loss of livestock in a barn fire. They moved to Baker in the summer of 1963, making it their home and raising their children. Edith loved to grow a large garden, canning everything she grew. She was always so proud to show her pantry of canned goods ready for her family. She taught her daughters and her grandchildren how to can and process vegetables the old and proper way of canning. Edith had a special way with her grandchildren and she loved for them to stop in and visit. She had little children around her house for many years and they enjoyed going to Grandma’s for lunch instead of the school lunchroom. Edith always enjoyed going for coffee and visiting with her lady friends every day. Due to failing health, Edith entered the Fallon Medical Complex Nursing Home in 2011. She enjoyed dancing to old-time music during her stay there and she continued to help other residents as well as the care givers. She was loved and cherished by all. Edith is survived by her sons, Tom Crippen of Colstrip and Don (Becky) Crippen of Belt; her daughters, Gloria (Dale) Rath of Baker, Sue (Don) Hinman of Rapid City, SD, Kathy (Art) DeGrand of Baker, and Deb (Kevin) Newell of Baker; 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
