Edith Gulka, 82, Dickinson, died Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at St. Benedict?s Health Center, Dickinson. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a. m. , Monday, September 13, 2004 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson with the Rev. Jim Braaten, celebrating. Interment will be in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be 1 p. m. to 9 p. m. , Sunday, September 12, 2004 at Price-Murphy Funeral Home with a rosary being said at 7 p. m. followed by a video tribute. Edith Kinzel was born on June 5, 1922, in Dickinson to Anton and Christine (Roller) Kinzel. She attended school at Sts. Peter and Paul in New Hradec and completed the 8th grade. Her father, Anton, had surgery, so she went to work at St. Joseph?s Hospital to pay the bill in 1939. She worked until 1944, when she met and married Nick Gulka and raised her two daughters. In 1952, they moved to Dickinson and she returned to work at the hospital. Edith worked 43 years there before retiring. She was a member of Catholic Daughters, Ukrainian Culture and Czech Heritage. She enjoyed gardening (vegetables and flowers) and feeding the squirrels and birds in her backyard. Edith is survived by: her husband, Nick Gulka, Dickinson; two daughters, Sharon and Larry Salz, Billings, MT, Jeannie and Bob Horning, Laramie, WY; five grandchildren, Mark and Lisa (Ingram) Massad, Seattle, WA, Wayne and Michelle (Nagle) Massad, Aurora, IL, Nikki (Massad) and Jake Kramer, Strasburg, CO, Jaime and Michelle (Stanley) Horning, Riverton, UT, Cheri (Horning) and Travis Phibbs, Lolo, MT; seven great-grandchildren, Mikayla and Emily Massad, Derek and Justin Massad, Colson and Carson Horning and Ani Phibbs; one brother, Ed and Evelyn (Schmidt) Kinzel, Billings, MT; one sister-in-law, Bertha Kinzel, Dickinson. She was preceded in death by: her parents; two brothers, Robert and Gabe; two sisters, Bridget and Hattie Dvorak.
