Funeral Service for Edith D. Stein, 65, of Ankeny, IA formerly of Billings and Plevna, MT will be at 10:00 a. m. on Monday, September 17, 2012 at Emanuel Evangelical Free Church in Plevna, MT. Interment will follow in the Community Union Cemetery at Plevna. Visitation will be 3:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. on Sunday, September 16th, with the family greeting friends and relatives from 3:00 p. m. to 5:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker, MT. Edith passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. Edith (Wenz) was born to Richard and Emma (Straub) Wenz on March 23, 1947, in Baker, MT. Richard was widowed and remarried to Lydia Wenz on June 15, 1952. Edith achieved a Bachelors of Nursing from Montana State University in Bozeman and Billings, MT. Her career in nursing was quite diverse. She worked in various areas including the ICU, Emergency Room, Recovery Room, and Dialysis. Edith was married to Karl Stein on Oct 7, 1978 in Plevna, MT. They resided in Billings and Shepherd MT. Her daughter Heather was born Dec 26, 1979. Edith enjoyed playing piano for pleasure and for many church functions, singing in the church choir, and volunteering at the hospital. Due to Edith?s medical background and familiarity with hospital staff she was a special asset as a hospital volunteer. She was a member of Faith Chapel in Billings, Montana for many years. Upon moving to Iowa, she became a member of Ankeny Baptist Church. Edith?s commitment to her faith was evident in her daily life and she donated generously to support faith ministries. Edith?s strength of character allowed her to persevere through many of life?s adversities and she will be greatly missed. For many years she lived in Billings, MT but had recently relocated to Iowa to be closer to family. Edith is survived by her daughter and granddaughter: Heather (Dave) Poskevich and Grace; Robert (Marilyn) Wenz, LuAnn (John) Unterseher, Micah and Kaley; April (Wayne) Wright, Makayla and Dawson; Nola (Mike) Rath, Lance and Luke; Alvin (Sharon) Wenz, Ryan and Kevin. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Stein; Father Richard Wenz; and Mother Lydia Wenz.
