Edmond Remfert

Memorial Services for Edmond Remfert, 93, of Hebron will be 11:00 a. m. , Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at St. John UCC Church in Hebron with Pastor Gaylund Olson officiating. Burial will be in the St. John UCC Cemetery in Hebron. Military Rites will be presented by the Henry Biffert Post #100 of HebronVisitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p. m. Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at the Spangelo-Stevenson Funeral Home in Hebron, ND. A Prayer service will be held 6:00 p. m. at the chapel. Edmond passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2013 at the Marion Manor in Glen Ullin, NDEdmond Remfert was born March 28, 1920 in Hebron, North Dakota to Matt and Eva (Junkert) Remfert. He was a life long resident of Hebron and graduated from Hebron High School. He married Gladys (Toody) Beyer on March 16, 1943 in Hebron in a blizzard. He served in the U. S. Army from1941 to 1945. Ed took part in the Normandy beach landing on June 6, 1944 as a member of the 786 Engineer Petroleum Distribution Company. He was a member of St. John Church, a life member of the American Legion, a life member of the North Dakota Firemen’s Association, a member of the Hebron Lions Club, and was active in the Hebron Historical Society. Ed was employed at Urban’s, Inc. for 37 years and 14 years at Urban’s TV. Ed served 25 years as Boy Scout Scoutmaster in Hebron. Twenty one boys earned the Scouting Eagle award under his leadership. The Boy Scouts also took seven trips to the Black Hills of South Dakota. He led the building of the Boy Scout Cabin on Lions Club park property in 1949. He served as Scoutmaster for the National Boy Scout Jamboree at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, and a as Scoutmaster at the National Boy Scout Jamboree at Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1960. Ed became an Eagle Scout in 1937 and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award in 1957. He is survived by three sons, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Remfert at Rochester, MN, Patrick (Benita) at New Prague, MN, and Donald (Dianne) Remfert at Olathe, Kansas, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and two step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys (Toody), his parents, one sister and three brothers. Memorials may be given to the St. John UCC Church of Hebron, ND
