Edna Hendrickson

A funeral service for Edna Hendrickson will be 2:00 p. m. , Friday, March 14, 2014 at Bible Baptist Church, Grand Forks ND, with Pastor Mike Custer officiating. Visitation for Edna will be prior to the service from 11:00 a. m. to 2:00 p. m. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Dickinson, ND. Edna passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 at North Dakota Veterans Home in Lisbon, ND. Edna Ray Walker was born March 10, 1930 in Louisville, KY, the daughter of Rollie J. and Ora Lee (Carter) Walker. She grew up and attended school in Kentucky. In 1951, she went on to serve in the U. S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1952. Edna married Eldred Hendrickson on November 9, 1952 in Waukegan, IL. To this union, Joan, Larry and Mark were born. Edna and Eldred lived in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota before moving to Dickinson in 1999. Edna enjoyed reading, sewing, embroidery, and cooking. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time helping with S. C. O. R. E. , a program that mentors young small business owners nationwide. Edna is survived by her daughter, Joan Rust of East Grand Forks, MN; sons, Larry of Aberdeen, SD and Mark of Dickinson; six grandchildren, Ben (Rachel) Rust of Woodbury, MN, Kristy Rust of Grand Forks, ND, Carinna, Anthony, Matthew and Andrew Hendrickson; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Kathryn Rust; and sisters, Linne (Garland) Menroe of Fern Creen, KY, Florence Karpp of Louisville, KY and Mary (Charlie) Bracksieck of Spring, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Eldred; an infant daughter; sister, Mabel Pratt; and brothers, Rollie and George Walker.
