Edna Wetzel

A Funeral service for Edna Wetzel, 87, of Glen Ullin, will be 11:00 a. m CST. , Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Evangelical Congregational Church with Pastor Bill Bradley officiating. Burial will take place in Glen Ullin Cemetery. Visitation for Edna will be one hour prior to the service at the Church. Edna passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at the Marion Manor in Glen Ullin. Edna was born January 18, 1929 in Blue Grass, North Dakota, the daughter of John and Katherine (Nagel) Winckler. She attended country school for 8 years. On May 4, 1947 Edna was united in marriage to Wilbert Wetzel. To this union three sons were born: Dennis, Clyde and Neal. They lived on a farm in rural Glen Ullin where Edna helped with farming, raising cattle and gardening. They moved to Glen Ullin in 1975. She loved to bake and have people in her home for meals and visiting. Edna worked for a short time at Marion Manor in the dietary department. Edna was a faithful member of the Evangelical Congregational Church and enjoyed singing, teaching Sunday school and VBS, Ladies Aid and helping in any way she could. Edna moved to Marion Manor Nursing Home in December 2011. Edna is survived by her sons, Dennis and Carol of Fruita, CO, Clyde and Lois of New Salem, ND, and Neal and Linda of Glendale, AZ; grandchildren, Angela Wetzel, Scott (Loni) Wetzel, Lisa (Cory) Taylor, Sara (Nathan) Coffin, and Nick Wetzel; 8 great- grandchildren, Megan, Elizabeth, Emma, Eli, Jay, Eleanor, Owen and Gideon; sisters, Hilda Peltz of Glen Ullin, Gertrude Unruh of Victor, MT, and Doris (Fred) Voegele of Tacoma, WA; brothers, Albert Winckler of New Salem, ND, and Garmon (Janice) Winckler of Mandan; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ewald (Luella) Wetzel, Fargo, ND and sister-in-law, Ruth Winckler of New Salem, ND. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert in 1997; grandson, Jay in 2000; sister, Erna Unruh; and brothers, Rueben and Aaron Winckler.
