Funeral services for Edward Morel, 69, of Dickinson, will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at the St. Joseph?s Catholic Church with Father Keith Streifel celebrating. Burial will be in the St. Thomas Cemetery in Gladstone, ND. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 18, 2009 from 1:00 ? 9:00 pm, followed by a rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at the Stevenson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 8 ? 9 am at the chapel. Ed passed away Saturday, August 15, 2009 at his home in Dickinson. Edward Frank Morel was born on March 31, 1940 the son of Carl John and Katherine (Bergenheier) Morel in Richardton, ND. He grew up on the farm and attended Central grade school and country school in the Lehigh area. When he was younger Ed attended school to be a baker and worked in a bakery in Bismarck for several years. Edward worked most of his life in farming and construction. He also worked occasionally at Ed?s Honey Co. in Dickinson. He was an avid John Wayne fan and loved watching westerns as well as reading Louis LaMoure western books. Ed enjoyed coming down to the honey company and visiting with family and friends. He was very caring and enjoyed volunteering his time at the House of Manna. Ed liked to attend auctions and give his treasures away to family and friends. He always had a good sense of humor and was very patriotic to his country. Survivors include a brother, Raymond Morel, Hebron, ND; five sisters, Hazel (Ken) Johnson, Rio Rancho, NM, Jeanette Frederick, Minot, ND, Shirley (Ed) Fetch, Dickinson, ND, Pauline Dowhanik, Bismarck, ND and Caroline McMahen, Bismarck, ND and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joseph; a brother-in-law, Jerry McMahen, a niece, Lisa McMahen; a nephew, Dave Johnson and a great niece.
