Edward Renner

A funeral Mass for Edward Renner, 92, of Glen Ullin, will be 10:30 a.m. CST, Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin with Father Jeff Zwack celebrating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.


Visitation for Edward will be at 9:00 a.m. CST, Saturday, February 24th at the Church with a rosary service being held at 10:00 a.m. CST.


Edward passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Marian Manor, Glen Ullin.


Edward was born March 4, 1925 in Hebron, the son of John M. and Mary (Tkach) Renner. As a young boy, he attended farm school south of Hebron through the eighth grade. He had done some coal mining and helped on the family farm south of Glen Ullin. In 1945, at the age of 20, Edward went to serve our country with the US Army during WWII. He was stationed at Luzon, Philippines. Following his honorable discharge in 1946, he returned to Glen Ullin. In 1949, Edward helped build the Heart Butte Dam. On October 17, 1951, Edward married Theresa Geck. Their marriage was blessed with nine children. The family farmed northeast of Glen Ullin until 1965. Edward moved the family into Glen Ullin and he worked with local contractors until 1967. He then began working with F&J Construction in Dickinson and retired in 1987. Edward also enjoyed working for Anton Schirado in his spare time. He helped build the Marion Manor which later became his home in 2016. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, fishing and telling jokes. Edward was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a 4th Degree Knight and an American Legion member.


Edward is survived by his wife, Theresa; daughters, Judy (Myron) Pfeifle of Bismarck, Joyce (Trice) Miller of Glen Ullin, Jacque Sayotovich of Isanti, MN, Jeanne (Greg) Voegele of New Salem; son, Jeff (Corrie) Renner; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren; brother, James Renner of Glen Ullin.


He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Renner; children, Janet, John, Julie and Jamie; son-in-law, Paul Sayotovich; brothers, Lawrence and Ernest Renner; sisters, Eleanor Meuchel, Alice Thomas and Anna Renner.
