Funeral Services for Edward H. Schwartz, 83 of New England will be 10:30 a. m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Church, New England with Pastor Bruce Peterson officiating. Burial will follow at Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Cemetery, New England. Please note when traveling for the funeral service there will be a 20 minute delay on Highway 22 South due to road construction. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 21, 2011 from 1:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home. Edward passed away Friday, June 17, 2011 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colorado. Edward H. Schwartz was born March 15, 1928 in New England, North Dakota, the son of Gottlieb and Pauline (Oberlander) Schwartz. He grew up and attended country grade school completing the eighth grade at the Whetstone School. Edward then returned to the family farm and worked with his father. In 1948, at the age of 20, Edward began farming south of Reeder. On June 4, 1950, Edward and Rozella Haugen were married at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Reeder. In 1951, Edward and his uncle Edward Oberlander began Schwartz and Oberlander Construction. Together, they were earth movers and operated this company until 1972. In 1972, Edward started the Edward H. Schwartz Construction Inc. where he primarily engaged in highway construction. In 1996, Edward sold his business to his son, Randy. However, he continued to work with his son in the business. At the age of 70, Edward continued to restore his old John Deere tractors as well as old Chevrolet?s. All of his life, Edward was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. He never missed attending the events of his children and grandchildren. Edward and Rozie were a team and supported each other as well as their children. He always offered unconditional love to his children, grandchildren, and friends of his children and grandchildren. Edward is survived by his wife, Rozella Schwartz, New England; three sons and daughter-in-laws, Jerry and Kim Schwartz, Dickinson, Randy and Kristi Schwartz, Dickinson, and Kent and Cathy Schwartz, Mandan; four daughters and son-in-laws, Paulette and Kirk Erickson, New England, Patricia and Craig Kipp, Park City, Utah, Adele and Ken Gabriel, Bismarck and Cynthia and Todd Clausnitzer, Bismarck; two brothers, Richard and Lois Schwartz, Reeder and Gary and Lynda Schwartz, Rapid City, SD; four sisters, Dorothy Hoff, Dickinson, Darlene and Alton Finck, Watertown, SD, Carol and Harry Koppinger, Mandan and Diane Schwartz, Red Lodge, MT; one brother-in-law Roger Anderson; two sister-in-laws Joann Schwartz and Nola Goode; 23 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gottlieb and Pauline Schwartz; two brothers, Fred Schwartz and Donnie Schwartz; one sister Margie Anderson and one brother-in-law, Walt Hoff.
