(Sykora) and Edwin Leonard in Omaha, NE. After his mothers divorce, Edwin moved to Yankton, SD where he attended Catholic school. When his mother married Leonard ?Slim? Glass, they moved to a farm south of Hettinger, ND. Edwin entered the CCC work camps in 1933. After his return, he married Lola May Kroft on March 9, 1936, and together they had three children, Jack, Darrell and Marlene. Edwin farmed and also worked at the coal mine in Haynes, ND. He was very active in the community. When the coal mine closed down he took a job as a diesel mechanic with Lawrence Transportation in Tioga, ND. After being transferred to Baker, MT and having a serious accident, Edwin went to work at the Baker Hospital and Nursing Home after earning his LPN. He later acquired the ambulance service which he owned and operated for nine years. He was also a maintenance engineer at the hospital and nursing home. Edwin was a very hard worker who loved his family; took his kids hunting and fishing, and also took great pride in his grandchildren. He always had a sense of humor, was quick witted and could turn anything into a joke. We his children, admire that characteristic of our dad. Edwin loved music and was a great musician and operated his own dance band. Edwin could bring tears when he would sing ?Old Shep?. After many years the first marriage dissolved. Edwin then married Joyce Twiford in November 1980, and to this union a daughter, Kathy was born in 1983.
