Eileen passed away November 11, at Fallon Medical Complex in Baker. Eileen Adele Holt was born on January 15, 1933 in Minot, North Dakota. When she was 4 years old her parents moved to Montana, first to Dillon then to Deer Lodge where she spent the remainder of her childhood years. While growing up she spent much of her time swimming, riding her bicycle and singing both alone and with groups. She was an usher in the local movie house and progressed from dishwasher to head waitress in the local caf??s in town and to help pay for college. She received a 2-year teaching certificate in 1957 and was teaching in Circle, MT when she met the dashing cowboy, Keith. They moved to a ranch in South Dakota and she taught at the Stevenson School. In the beginning, this town girl couldn?t open gates, but she learned and eventually she could open the 3 gates to the main road with the white gloves on and never get them dirty. In 1960 the family moved to Bell Tower Ranch in Carter County and over the years she learned the many skills of a ranch wife. For relaxation, she read, sewed, knitted, quilted, took snapshots of her growing family at work and play. Later on she was Justice of the Peace and City Court Judge for Carter County. She taught and was librarian in the Ekalaka School. She was an active member in the Carter County Belles, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Ekalaka Library Board, the council on Aging, a voting Poll Judge, and a charter member of St. Elizabeth Lutheran Church and active in many other organizations. Her strongest rewards come from seeing her children and grandchildren grown up to be responsible adults and from giving back to the community just a part of what it has given her and her family. She will be remembered for her organization of the Ekalaka Centennial in 1985. She started the Carter County Public Library. She loved to organize events and was not afraid to make decisions and delegate duties. She was known for her fantastic knitting and sewing enjoyed by friends and family. Her family felt each person had a special spot in her house that was dedicated to each of them. Eileen was married to Keith Larson of Circle, Montana on December 25, 1957. She raised six children and helped raise many others. She and Keith were married 51 years. Survivors include her husband Keith, daughters Jennifer Larson, Martha Larson, and Kathleen Larson, Sons Ken (Sande) Larson, and Tod (Lara) Larson; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; her mother, Ada Holt and a brother, Martin (Suzy) Holt. She is preceded in death by her son, Ashley Warn, her father Clifford M. Holt, and her brothers Clifford Holt, Byron Holt, and Burton Holt.
