Elaine Bares

A funeral Mass for Elaine Bares, 80, of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Father Todd Kreitinger celebrating. Entombment will follow in the Dickinson Mausoleum.


Visitation for Elaine will be 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 5 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a vigil service being held at 7:00 p.m.


Elaine passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.


Elaine Esther Kittelson was born August 19, 1936 in Beach, ND to Donald (Homberg) and Esther (Schaal) Kittelson. She grew up on the family farm north of Beach and attended Little Beaver Rural School. Elaine graduated from Beach High School in 1954. She then attended Dickinson Teachers College. On June 26, 1956 Elaine and Lawrence Bares were married at St. John’s Catholic Church in Beach, ND. The couple made their home in Dickinson, ND. During this time, Elaine worked in bookkeeping at various places.  She volunteered at her church and the hospital over the years. Elaine was very proud of her flowers and gardening. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, baking and getting together with her coffee group.


Elaine is survived by her husband, Larry, Dickinson; daughter, Renee (John) Fransen, Coleharbor; son, Donald (Pam) Bares, Dickinson; grandchildren, Carrie (Kevin) Thompson and Brian (Renee) Fransen, Bradley and Brittany Bares, Brooklyn and Remington Barrett; great-grandchildren, Elijah Thompson and Axel Fransen; sisters, Colleen Clark, Scottsdale, AZ, Darlene (Charles) Peterson, West Fargo, ND.


She is preceded in death by her parents.


Memorials may be given to Heartland Hospice of Dickinson or Bismarck Cancer Center.
