Funeral Mass for Elaine Karsky, 76, of Dickinson will be 2:00 p. m. , Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Todd Kreitinger celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Dickinson.
Visitation for Elaine will be 4:00 p. m. – 8:00 p. m. , Monday, December 9th with a Rosary and Vigil Service being held at 6:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, from 9:00 a. m. – 12 noon at the funeral home.
Elaine passed away Saturday, December 07, 2013 at Sanford Health in Bismarck, ND.
Elaine was born April 27, 1937 to Anton and Margaret (Martin) Haag in Dickinson, ND. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school, later graduating from Model High School in Dickinson. Elaine married Lawrence Karsky on May 29, 1958 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec. They were blessed with three children, Sheryl, Julie and Mark. Over the next 20 years, Lawrence’s job as a school administrator took the family to a number of cities throughout North Dakota and Wisconsin before they returned to Dickinson in 1979. Elaine helped Lawrence with the Service Master Agency as well as operating her own daycare. She was currently employed with Dickinson Comfort Inn where she has worked for over 20 years. Elaine enjoyed traveling to various parts of the country with her twin sister, including bus tours and an Alaskan cruise. She took pride in her yard and garden. Elaine was an avid dancer and she insisted that her partner be able to keep up with her. She had a very giving heart, willing to help others where ever she could. She enjoyed visiting and hosting family and friends at her home. Elaine deeply cared about children and she was very proud to take an active part in her grandchildren’s lives. She will be remembered for her contagious smile and the selfless attitude that she displayed to all that knew her. Elaine was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Elaine is survived by her daughter, Sheryl (Rick) Marsh of Dickinson; son, Mark (Sarah) Karsky of Bozeman, MT; seven grandchildren, Brian, Jon, Paul, Michael, and Nate Marsh, Jenna Jablonsky and Jordan Jones; seven siblings; Leonard Haag and Leo Haag both of Dickinson, Louis (Eliane) Haag of Callahan, FL, Roger (Diane) Haag of Suntan Valley, AZ, Eva Duletski of Bismarck, Lorraine (Ed) Binstock of Dickinson, and Jeanette (Norman) Eggenbraten of Fisher, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; daughter, Julie; parents, Anton and Margaret Haag; brother, Phil Haag; sisters, Eleanor Oen, Barbara Haag and Rosemary Haag.
