Funeral Mass for Eleanor M. Ridl, 99, of Dickinson is Wednesday, October 31, 2007, at 1:00 p. m. at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Jim Braaten celebrating. Burial will be in the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in Dickinson. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. followed by a Rosary and Vigil at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 a. m. to one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Eleanor passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2007 at the St. Luke?s Home in Dickinson. Eleanor Marie Samek was born on January 18, 1908 in South Heart, ND the daughter of Joseph and RoseAna (Ridl) Samek. She grew up and attended country school, later attending boarding school in New Hradec. She was the oldest of 14 children born, so Eleanor went right to work with helping on the farm and with the other children. Eleanor was married to Anton A. Ridl on October 31, 1927 at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson. Together they farmed and raised their five children. Anton and Eleanor celebrated their 69 wedding anniversary before he passed away on March 28, 1998. She was looking forward to celebrating her 100th birthday party only missing it by several months. After 48 years on the farm Eleanor retired and moved into Dickinson where she has made her home since. Due to failing health Eleanor has spent the last nine years at St. Luke?s Home. Eleanor enjoyed gardening, crocheting and raising flowers around her home. After entering the St. Luke?s she enjoyed bingo, baking and time spent with her family. She was a longtime member of the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Survivors include, a son, Raymond A. (Regina) Ridl, Dickinson, ND; a daughter, Grace Wetzel, Dickinson, ND; a daughter-in-law, Sadie Ridl, Dunn Center, ND; three sisters, Rose Frederick, ID, Frances Dvorak, Dickinson and Georgianne Ubanks, CO; thirteen grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Anton A. Ribl; three sons, Clarence, Eugene and Tony Ridl; two sisters, Dorothy Fisher and Mary Haverlock; four brothers, Bill, Joe, Jim and Robert Samek and four infant siblings.
