Eleanor Rieckman, 82, Dickinson, died Wednesday, August 13, 2003, at St. Benedict?s Health Center, Dickinson. Funeral services will be 3 p. m. , Monday, August 18, 2003, at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah?s Witnesssess, Dickinson, with Rick Sutherland, officiating Minister. Interment will be in Dickinson Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday at Price-Murphy Funeral Home from 2 pm. to 5 p. m. Visitation will continue on Monday at Price-Murphy Funeral Home from 10 a. m. to 12 noon. Eleanor Lena May Carl was born May 6, 1921, in Sugar Grove, Penn. to Lyle and Elizabeth Mae (Hardaker) Carl. She moved to Minneapolis with her parents and four sisters where she remained until her marriage. She graduated from high school in 1939, and then worked various jobs, one being an airline riveter in St. Paul, Minn. during WWII. She also worked as a USO hostess, where she met Herman Rieckman. They later married, and moved to North Dakota. They lived together on their farm southeast of Dickinson for over 50 years and raised four children. Eleanor was a devoted homemaker. She was always a loving helpmate to her late husband. In 1962, she became a dedicated member of Jehovah?s Witnesses. She cared deeply for others, which was reflected over the years by sharing helpful Bible teachings. Eleanor will be remembered by her family and friends for her home cooking and hospitality. Some of her favorite past times were playing cards, doing puzzles and socializing. Shortly after Herman?s death in May of 2002, she moved to the Villard Terrace Apartments and in February of 2003, she moved to St. Benedict?s Health Center where she passed away on Aug 13, of heart failure. Eleanor is survived by: one son, Ron (Rita), Omaha, Neb. ; two daughters, Linda (Kenneth) McCrary, Austin, TX, and LaVonne (Grant) Beem, Milnor, ND; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Borne, Minneapolis, Minn. and Elma Kassick, Fort Myers, Fla. and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Lyle and Elizabeth; husband, Herman; one son Kenneth Carl; two sisters, Grace Schoenhofen and Mabel Huttner.
