Funeral service for Elizabeth ?Betty? Fiedler, 88, of Dickinson formerly of, Mott will be 10 a.m., Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Our Saviour?s Lutheran Church, Dickinson, with Pastor Noel Vold officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m., Thursday March 20, 2008 at the Sunny Slope Cemetery, Mott. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson. Betty passed away March 16, 2008 at her home in Dickinson. Betty was born June 26, 1919 the daughter of John & Barbara (Mayer) Degel in Mott, ND. She grew up on the family farm near Mott and attended grade school in Mott. After her schooling she began working as a Nanny in Milwaukee, WI. After several years in Wisconsin, she returned to North Dakota. It was in Mott where she met and later married Andrew Herbert Fielder on July 12, 1940 in Glendive, Mt. Together they made their home south of Mott and raised their seven children. They continued to live on the farm until Andrew?s health forced them to move to Dickinson, ND in 1966. Betty has called Dickinson her home ever since. Betty worked as a Nurse?s Aid in the Pediatrics unit at St. Joseph?s Hospital for 10 years. Betty had a love for and a desire to help the children. She has touched many lives through her beautiful spirit and giving heart. One of the ways Betty expressed her love and care was through her cooking and baking (cookies) and she was especially known for her apple pies. She loved her family and grandchildren very much and enjoyed spending time with them. She always remembered others and their important days with a card or phone call. Betty had an adventurous spirit which was apparent in her travels and willingness to try new things. Betty had a collection of poems and tea pots. She was a member of the Women?s Missionary Society. She is survived by three sons; Andrew (Ida) , Fiedler, Belfield, ND, Harold Fiedler, Dickinson, Stanley(Susan) Fiedler, Dickinson, ND; three daughters; Nancy (Martin) Hutzenbeler, Belfield, ND; Judy (William) Wilson, Mesa, AZ and Rosemary Gussey, Bismarck, ND; 24 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; two brothers; John (Jesse) Degel, Chico, CA and Tony Degel, Magalia, CA; two sisters; Ann Holecek, Chico, CA and Mary Radach, Yakima, WA. Betty is preceded by her husband Andrew, both parents; daughter Barbara Ann Thurman; daughter-in-law, Ida Fiedler; and brother, Peter Degel.
