A Liturgy of the Word service for Elizabeth “Betty” Ganzer, 88, Poway CA, formerly of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a. m. , Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, ND with Father Tom Grafsgaard celebrating. Burial will follow at the Dickinson Cemetery. Visitation for Betty will be from 2:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. , Friday, January 15, 2016 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary & Vigil service being held at 6:00 p. m. Betty passed away peacefully, with her son by her side, on Friday, January 8, 2016 at Pomerado Hospital in Poway, CA. Elizabeth Marie Wayer was born in 1927 to Josef and Katherine (Windenberger) Wayer on the family farm northeast of New England, ND. She graduated St. Mary’s High School in New England in 1946. After school she worked at 1st National Bank in Dickinson for six years and then worked as a bookkeeper at the Dickinson Clinic for 39 years. On January 24, 1951 she married Donald Ganzer, and from this union they were blessed with one son. In retirement Betty and Don spent their winters in Mesa, Arizona. Betty loved traveling, making crafts, playing cards and games and spending time with family and friends. She also did volunteer work in Dickinson and Arizona. After Don died Betty continued to spend her summers in Dickinson and her winters in Arizona. Two years ago she moved to California to be closer to her son and his family. She enjoyed her final two years watching her grandson grow, attending his sporting events and participating in various family outings. Betty is survived by her son, Dean (Stacy) Ganzer, San Diego, CA; her special grandson Reed Ganzer, San Diego, CA; sister Teresa Fischer, Michigan, three brothers-in-law, Frank Lewis, Dickinson, Paul Herberholz, Oregon and Mat Hatzenbeehler, Oregon; and many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Don; sisters, Magdalena Lenhardt, Mary Korang, Anna Herberholz, Katherine Hatzenbeehler, Emelia Beehler; brothers John Wayer and Nick Wayer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Dickinson Museum Center.
