Funeral service for Ella Guenther, 89, of Dunn Center, will be2:00 p. m. Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at Normanna Lutheran Church in Dunn Center, N. D. with Pastor Joel Sauerwein officiating. Burial will follow in the Werner Cemetery. Visitation will be 8 a. m. ? 10 a. m. , Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, ND and continues 1p. m. to 9 p. m. , Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Killdeer, ND with a prayer service at 7:00 p. m. Visitation continues 9 a. m. to 11 a. m. , Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Killdeer and continuing 12 p. m. to 2 p. m. at Normanna Lutheran Church in Killdeer. Ella passed away Friday, September 26, 2008 at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center in Dickinson. Ella was born on May 20, 1919 in a stone house on the farm where her parents homesteaded north of Dunn Center. She joined Agatha, Herbert, Gust, Frieda, and Emma as the youngest daughter of John and Matilda (Harter) Mittelsteadt. She graduated from High School in Dunn Center and got her teaching credentials from Dickinson State College. Ella married the love of her life, Milton Guenther June 2, 1942. Milton and Ella lived in the Boston area for a short time while Milton was in the Navy. They returned to the Dunn County area to farm on the Guenther Homestead after the end of Milton?s military duty. Her family, whom she loved very much, was very important to Ella. They had 3 children. During her years as a teacher, Ella taught in Werner and Twin Buttes and several rural schools. She also enjoying helping many young people who stayed at the farm including young people involved in the IFYE (International Foreign Youth Exchange) from several foreign countries. Encouraging young people to continue education through college was also important to Ella. Ella was active in several organizations throughout her life. She especially enjoyed her involvement in the Dunn County Historical Society where she wrote the monthly newsletter for many years. The newsletter was a project she thoroughly enjoyed. Ella had a love for music and passed this on to her children and grandchildren. Welcoming visitors to her ?Dew Drop Inn? was another favorite activity. She also enjoyed visiting the pasture in the Badlands ? a very favorite place for the family and visitors. In the spring, it was a delight for her to find crocuses. Ella is survived by daughters Marilyn Schoenberg, Hebron, ND and Jean Guenther,Dickinson, ND; grandchildren Justin (Angela) Smith, Bismarck, ND; Jed (Jill) Smith,Greenville, South Carolina; Beni (Michelle) Paulson, Killdeer, ND; Nathan Guenther, Bismarck, ND; and Jessica Guenther, N. Ogden, Utah; great-grandchildren Darian Guenther, Asha and Bridger Smith, Cheyden Paulson, and Cole Smith; brother-in-law Darrell (Joan) Guenther; sisters-in-law Margery Zich, Clarice Guenther, Emma Weisenberger and a special friend, Edith Norton. Many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews in her extended family will also miss her very much. Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Milton and her son, John; both of her parents and all of her siblings
