Funeral Services for Ella Jones, 86, of Dickinson, formerly of Aberdeen, SD, are 10:00 a. m. CST, Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at the Schrivers-Mortuary, Aberdeen, SD. Burial will be in the Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Aberdeen. Visitation will be from 11:00 a. m. to 5:00 p. m. MDT, Monday, May 24, 2011 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, ND continuing on Tuesday, May 25 from 4:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. CST followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00 p. m. CST at the Schriver-Mortuary, Aberdeen, SD. Ella passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 at St. Luke?s Nursing Home in Dickinson. Ella R. Jones was born on December 21, 1924 at Long Lake, SD the daughter of Jacob and Martha (Preszler) Maier. She attended country school near Long Lake. The family relocated to Leola, SD where Ella also attended school until the 8th grade. She worked in the local caf? until 1943 when she moved to Aberdeen. Ella was married to Edwin M. Jones on October 21, 1944 in Aberdeen. They made their home in Tacoma Park, SD until 1946 when they moved back to Aberdeen. Ella worked at various jobs in Aberdeen including the Dakota Farmer and Aberdeen Public School District until her retirement in 1981. Ella enjoyed cooking for her family, you never went hungry at Ella?s house. There was always candy at Grandma?s house. She loved to dance, play cards, go camping, fishing, snowmobiling and was always very out going. Greatful for having shared her life are her daughters: Shirley (Ken) Rieger, Blanchard, OK and Sandy (Mike) Storley, Dickinson, ND; grandchildren, Ginger (Bill) Hawthorne, Hamilton, MO, Dan (Candace Mayo) Rieger, Winstom-Salem, NC, Taylor & Dylan Storley, Dickinson, ND; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Jordan and Caitlin Hawthorne. She was preceded in death by, her parents, her husband, Edwin; three sisters, Laura Flemmer, Leona Coleman and Margie Brown and an infant brother.
