Funeral Services for Ella Louise Wood, 77, of Glendive, formerly of Baker, will be 10:00 a. m. , Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the American Lutheran Church in Baker with Pastors Bruce & Reba Kolasch officiating. Burial will be in the Community Union Cemetery in Plevna, MT. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 25th from 3 – 8 p. m. with a Vigil service being held at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker, MT. Visitation will continue on Thursday one hour prior to the service. Ella passed away March 19, 2015 at her home in Glendive, MT, surrounded by her family. Ella was born on January 28, 1938, the daughter of Albert and Louise (Bechtold) Hepperle in Plevna, Montana. She attended school and graduated from the Plevna High School in 1955. She continued her education at Glendive Community College and later Montana State University Billings where she completed her nursing degree. Ella was married to Donald E. Wood on January 20, 1957 in Plevna. To this union five children were born, Renee, Vicki, Donnie, Jeff and Bobby. Together Ella and Don raised their family with different stops in Germany, Washington and lastly, Montana. Ella spent her life taking care of families through her nursing carrier. Most of her time was spent at Fallon Medical Complex or Glendive Medical Center. Due to failing health she retired and made Glendive her home. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ella was known for her good cooking, especially her dumplings and apple pies. She loved to host the holiday dinners with all the kids and their families. Ella and Don also enjoyed playing cards as long as it was pinochle. Survivors include, her husband, Donald E. Wood Sr. , Glendive; two daughters, Renee (Kenny) Mueller, Cripple Creek, CO and Vicki (Dave) Lane, Forsyth, MT; three sons, Donnie (Brenda) Wood, Baker, MT; Jeff (Edie) Wood, Lake Havan, AZ and Bobby (Karen Beyers) Wood, Baker, MT; two sister-in-laws, Gertrude (Trudy) Hepperle, Morgan Hill, CA and Darlene Hepperle, Baker, MT; 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert and Ted Hepperle.
