Elsie was born May 11, 1931 in Dickinson to Wenzel and Julia (Luptak) Rambousek. She grew up on her family farm west of New Hradec and attended farm school until the eighth grade. Along with her parents, Elsie moved to Dickinson where she began working for Green Drug as a waitress. On October 17, 1949, Elsie married Leonard Dvorak at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson. Elsie knew she would marry Leonard the first day she met him. Leonard and Elsie then moved to Dickinson and built a new home. In October of 2018, the couple moved to St. Benedict’s Court. In August of 2022 Elsie moved to Country House where she made her home for over a year in their loving community.
Elsie was always a caregiver, whether it was to her family, the farm, or to Leonard in his later years of failing health.
Elsie was a member of the Homemaker’s Club, New Hradec Rosary Society where she was the group leader for a decade of the rosary, and a leader of the Queen of Peace kitchen. She also made noodles for the Mardi Gras and rohlicky and kolaches Czech Heritage Events.
Elsie loved all holiday’s, especially Thanksgiving and the meaning of the pilgrims. Her family always said her stuffing was the best. She loved to entertain, play pinochle and she always made sure to end the evening with a good game of show down. She loved going out with Leonard and dancing the evenings away.
