Funeral Mass for Elsie Efta, 83, of Wibaux will be 11:00 am Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at St. John Catholic Church in Baker with Father Philip Chinnappan celebrating. Burial will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation for Elsie will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Monday, May 6, 2024 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker with a rosary and vigil taking place at 6:00 pm.

Elsie passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Glendive Medical Center.

Elsie Elaine Chamberlain Efta, was born in a log cabin near Pine River MN, on August 10, 1940 and passed away April 27th 2024, at the Glendive Medical Center, with her grandson Steven and Fiancé Ashley by her side.  Elsie was the 3rd child of 10, belonging to Winfred “Doc” and Frieda Chamberlain. The family moved to Marmarth, ND, where Elsie graduated from the 8th grade then moved to Baker where she graduated from Baker High School in 1958.

Elsie worked at the Super Value in Baker, where she met the love of her life Leo Efta. Elsie and Leo were married October 1, 1966, at Saint John’s Catholic Church in Baker, MT. To this union they were blessed with 7 children, Lorena, Kevin, Cory, Bethany, Stephanie, Jonathan, and Timmy. Stephanie, only 3 ½, passed away following a liver transplant and Jonathan was born just too soon. Elsie devoted her years to the family farm south of Wibaux and attending her family’s many activities over the years. Elsie was a devoted mother taking care of Timmy, who has Down Syndrome. Elsie became involved with Special Olympics, Partners in Policy Making, Parent’s Let Us Unite for Kids, Region 5 Disability Program & SPAM known as Strategic Planners Across Montana. She loved being a part of the Fallon Community Choir. Elsie’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the lights of her life, as children are true gifts from God.

Elsie was a member of Saint John’s Catholic Church in Baker which let her to be involved with Catholic Daughters of the America’s Court Saint Monica 1994. Elsie enjoyed volunteering at the Fallon County and Wibaux County Fairs, loved reading and watching her game shows. In her later years found she loved to play Corn Hole with the kids. Elsie was an amazing cook and loved baking.  Elsie’s pride and joy was attending all her family’s events.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents Doc and Frieda Chamberlain, Sisters Mary Peabody and Arlean Chamberlain, brothers Terry and Gary, Her beloved husband Leo, daughter Stephanie and sons Jonathan and Kevin.

Elsie is survived by her daughter Lorena Qualley of Wibaux and Bethany Efta of Miles City, Sons Cory (Ann) Efta of Baker and Timmy Efta of Wibaux, her 17 grandchildren Justin (ChyAnne) Qualley, Samantha (Tucker) Shaw, Patrick (Gina) Qualley, Steven (Fiancé Ashley) Qualley, Jasmine Qualley, O’Connell Qualley, Gavriella Qualley, Rebecca Qualley, Brenna (Kaipo) Hanakahi, Lokepa Efta, Kevin Josh Efta, Isabella Efta, Quinton (Rachael) Kirkwood, Trace Kirkwood, Kiara Efta, Annnabelle Efta, Mary Grace Efta. 9 Great Grandchildren, Tristan, Rowyn and Isyla Qualley, Vincent, Peyton and Azura Qualley, Austin Rosier, Skyler, and Sawyer Qualley. Siblings Billy (Karen) Chamberlain, Juanita (Gordy) Milne, Diane (Mel) Cytty, Larry (Gloria) Chamberlain, Leonard (Lennice) Chamberlain.
