Funeral Services for Elsie Lennie, 98, of New Salem are 11:00 a. m. CST, Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Peace Church, New Salem, ND with Pastor Joshua Eddy officiating. Burial will be later this spring in the Peace Church Cemetery in New Salem. Visitation will be from 3:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. CST on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Peace Church continuing on Wednesday one hour prior to the Service. A Family Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday at 7:00 p. m. CST at Peace Church, New Salem, NDElsie passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2010 at the Elm Crest Manor in New Salem, ND. Elsie Lennie was born on January 6, 1912 to Richard and Louise (Munder) Baumgarten in Judson, North Dakota. She grew up and attended school in Judson. On June 23, 1932, Elise married John Lennie at Mandan, North Dakota. To this union four children were born: LaRoy, LaVonne, Janet, and Allyn. Together they raised their family in New Salem where they lived all of their lives. Elsie loved playing cards especially when she beat you! In past years, she sewed Barbie Doll cloths and would sell them. She also worked in her garden as well as crocheted, which she enjoyed until the end. Elsie made hundreds of quilts and received many awards at the Morton County Fair for them. Her love was always all her family and grandchildren. Elsie is survived by two sons: LaRoy (Mary)Lennie, Hazen, ND, and Allyn (Darlen) Lennie, New Salem, ND; two daughters: Janet (Jerry) Hillstrom, Burnsville, MN and LaVonne (Gary) O?Dell, Las Vegas, NV; a sister, Lenora Schmidt, New Salem. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband John; a brother, Walter, three sisters, Hilma Reetz, Anna Lennie and Hattie Schwinkendorf; and two grandsons, Mike and Scott O?Dell.
