Funeral Services for Elsie C. Maershbecker, 85 of Bismarck, formerly of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a. m. Monday, February 14, 2011 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson, ND with Father Jeff Zwack, officiating. Burial will take place later this spring at St. Ann?s Catholic Cemetery, Hebron, ND. Visitation for Elsie will take place from 12:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson with Rosary and Prayer Service taking place at 4:00 p. m. Elsie passed away Friday, February 11, 2011 at St. Gabriel?s Community Health System in Bismarck, ND. Elsie was born July 11, 1925, the 2nd oldest of 18 children born to Frank and Anna (Kuntz) Schulz. She grew up and attended country school. Elsie worked on the family farm after school for a few years. On September 12, 1945 she was married to Mathias Maershbecker Jr. at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Richardton. The couple made their home on the Maershbecker homestead near Hebron, ND and it was here where they raised their children: Ann, Beverly, Harold, Sharon, Amy, Lois, Patricia and Natalie. The couple retired to Dickinson in 1991. In July of 2010 Elsie moved to Bismarck where she made her home at St. Gabriel?s Community Health System. Elsie enjoyed quilting and donated countless quilts to various charities over the years. She was active in RSVP and enjoyed playing pinochle and fishing. Elsie also loved visiting with family and friends. Survivors include: a son, Harold (Sharon) Maershbecker, New England, ND; seven daughters: Ann Riedlinger, Crookston, MN, Beverly (Robert) Streifel, Wing, ND, Sharon (Roy) Romanyshyn, Dickinson, Amy (Jeff) Kooren, Gillette, WY, Lois Salveson, Bismarck, ND, Patricia (Terry) Tomchuk, Dickinson, Natalie (Ronald) Salveson, Thief River Falls, MN; Siblings: Viola Sand, Dickinson; Pauline (Albert) Lantz, Dickinson; Agnes (Fred) Heidecker, Dickinson; Gladys Rummel, Dickinson; Mary Ann (Charles) Hoff, Richardton, ND; Delores (Elmer) Wiege, Rapid City, SD; Geraldine (Phil) Grayson, Dickinson; Dorothy (Bernie) Buresh, Lincoln, NE; Jim Schulz, Tucson, AZ; Mike (Margaret) Schulz, Dickinson; Kathleen Lindeman Ft Collins, CO; Ralph (Alice) Schulz, Dickinson; Inez (Merlyn) Hamann, Richardton, ND; Jackie (Ralph) Messmer, Bismarck, ND; 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mathias; three siblings: Alfred Schulz, Bernice Harrington and Willy Schulz, two son-in-laws, Dennis Riedlinger, and Rodney Salveson, and two grandchildren, Shane Kooren and Denise (Riedlinger) Sorenson.
