Elsie Schlapfer, 87, Taylor, formerly of Laurel, Montana, died Tuesday, August 26, 2003, at Richardton Health Center. Funeral services will be 2 p. m. Saturday, August 30, 2003, at Immanuel United Church of Christ, Taylor, with Rev. Gary Wood officiating. Interment will be in Taylor Cemetery, Taylor. Visitation will be Friday at Price-Murphy Funeral Home from noon to 9 p. m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p. m. Visitation will continue Saturday at the church one hour prior to the service. Elsie Gullickson was born April 3, 1916, on the family homestead five miles north of Taylor to Lewis and Clara (Knudson) Gullickson. She attended country school before going to school in Taylor where she graduated from high school in 1933. She graduated from the school of nursing in Sheridan, Wyo. She married Harley Schlapfer of Mt. Horeb, Wisc. on August 17, 1940, in Dubuque, IA. They lived in Wisconsin until Harley entered the Army. Following his discharge, they lived in Wisconsin, then Taylor, then Laurel, Mont. for over 50 years. Harley died February 16, 1996. Elsie remained in Laurel until August of 2001, when she became a resident of the Richardton Health Center. Elsie is survived by: three brothers, Orville (Lois) Gullickson, Taylor, Grant (Beatrice) Gullickson, Virginia Beach, Va. , Ole (Gloria) Gullickson, Laurel, Mont; four sisters, Edna (Lyle) Irwin, Cottage Grove, Ore. , Evelyn (Al) Hermann, Dickinson, Blanche Naumann, Taylor and Georgene (Leonard) Bernhardt, Beaverton, Ore. ; a brother-in-law, Tony Kolar, Taylor, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her husband, parents, sister, Clarice Kolar, and a brother-in-law, Earl Naumann.
