Emil Cerkoney, 65, Killdeer, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 13, 2003, at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 4 p. m. Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church, Killdeer, ND with the Reverend Jerry Ruelle, O. S. B. celebrating. Interment will be in Killdeer Cemetery, Killdeer. Visitation will be held at Price-Murphy Funeral Home Tuesday from noon to 9 p. m. with a rosary being said at 7 p. m. by the Knights of Columbus, Queen of Peace Council #9950. Visitation will continue at Price-Murphy Funeral Home Wednesday from 8 a. m. to 12 noon and one hour prior to the service at the church. Emil Cerkoney was born February 6, 1938, in Belfield, ND, the son of Dan and Polly (Kopichuk) Cerkoney. He was raised and educated in the Belfield area. Emil married Marie Piotrowski on November 10, 1958, at St. John?s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Belfield. He worked extensively in construction and oil field related work as a heavy equipment operator. He also farmed and ranched in the Dickinson/Killdeer area. Emil was active in the Knights of Columbus, Queen of Peace Council 9950, where he served as a past Grand Knight. He was also active at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Dickinson. His passion was fishing and spending time with his family. He will be truly missed and remembered by everyone who knew him. Emil is survived by: his wife, Marie, Killdeer; their five sons and families, Scott (Sally), Alpena, S. D. , Dan (Brenda), Dickinson, Doug (Sharon), Bismarck, Randy, Dickinson and Mark (Karena) Cerkoney, Farmington, Minn. ; five grandchildren, Britton, Marissa, Alyson, Sierra and Kelly; four brothers, Bill (Ellen), Marvin (Ida), Mike and Sam and five sisters, Katie Dutchuk, Mary (Nick) Barbash, Josephine Feist, Agnes Palanuk and Ann Sirshton. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Molly.
