Emma passed away on Monday, May 9, 2011, at Fallon Medical Complex in Baker, MT. Emma Heimbuch was born April 4, 1913, the daughter of Henry and Regina (Schaefer) Schell at her parents farm south of Plevna. She was the youngest of 13 children in the family. Emma grew up on the family farm and attended the Ehret Country School through the eighth grade. In her younger years, Emma worked in the fields with her father, helped her mother around the house and also helped care for her nieces and nephews. It was the work ethic and family values that she learned early in life that followed her until her hands were unable knead the dough she used to make her well known and often talked about breads, kuchen, pastries and rhubarb pies. Emma met Gideon Heimbuch, of Plevna, and the two were married on October 28, 1934, in Plevna. They were blessed with two children, Gordon and Thelma. Together, Emma and Gideon farmed south of Plevna, ran a mail route for a few years and eventually started a dairy operation. Through hard work Emma and Gideon worked side by side milking cows and selling the milk and cream to the local community. Eventually their operation would expand to 80 cows and selling their milk grade A. In 1968 they sold the dairy and continued to farm for several more years. In her spare time, Emma loved to cook and bake, but her hobby was working. She was the custodian at the Emanuel Evangelical Free Church in Plevna along with her sister-in-law Caroline Schell, and often commented to people how she was born, Baptized, Confirmed and Married in the church in Plevna. She served as an Election Judge for many years and was the oldest living resident of Plevna. Emma is survived by her son, Gordon and his wife, Gaile, Plevna, MT and their three sons, Ray and Susan Heimbuch of Belgrade, MT, and their sons, Dustin, Alex and Konner, Brian and his wife, Jo of Panama City, FL and their children, Kayla (Josh) Dailey and Michael, and Eric and his wife Kim of Bremerton, WA, and their children, Taylor, Jannessa and Avery; her daughter, Thelma Hamby of Billings, MT and her daughters, Kaye Hamby, Seattle, WA and Julie Swenson and her husband Scott of Billings, MT and their children Jake and Kate, and one great-great-grandson, Brayden Dailey; three sister-in-laws, Caroline Schell, Anna Heimbuch and Verna Letteau and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gideon Heimbuch, her son-in-law, Charles Hamby and her 13 siblings.
