Emma Losing was born July 4, 1924 to Fred and Magdelena (Opp) Burkle on the family ranch near Plevna, MT. She grew up and attended the Clark grade school north of the ranch. Later, Emma began helping at the homes of neighboring ranches where she helped with the house work and took care of the children. On January 26, 1947 Emma married Albert Losing at the First Baptist Church in Plevna. The couple made their home on a ranch southeast of Baker. It was here where they raised their two children and called their home for the next 50 plus years. Later in life Emma and Albert took great joy in traveling to visit various cousins and relatives. After Albert passed away in 1999, Emma remained on the ranch until 2002, when she purchased a home in Baker. Emma accepted Christ as a young girl and relied on God to see her through the many struggles in life. She was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church. Emma loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Emma enjoyed working in the garden and flowers and spent the falls canning all of her produce. She was also fond of sewing, especially quilting and made each of her grandchildren a personalized quilt. She is survived by a son, Steve (Anita) Losing of Baker, MT; a daughter Anita Grover of Baker, MT; two sisters, Louise (Ernest) Lang of Baker, MT; Erna Losing of Baker, MT; two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Burkle of Baker, MT, Billie Jo Losing of Cortez, CO; five grandchildren: William Losing, John Losing, Karie Losing, Alicia Grover, and Kevin Grover; and one great-granddaughter, Jasmine.
