Funeral Mass for Emma Stockie, 95, of Richardton, ND will be 10 a. m. , Thursday January 8, 2009 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Richardton, ND with Father Boniface Muggli, OSB celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary?s Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a. m. to 4 p. m. , Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Stevenson Funeral Home Dickinson, ND. Visitation will continue from 5 p. m. to 9 p. m. at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Richardton with a Rosary and Vigil Service taking place at 8:00 p. m. Emma passed away Monday, December 22, 2008 at The Richardton Memorial Hospital and Health Center, Richardton, ND. Emma Sattler was born September 16, 1913 to Stanislaus and Caroline (Braun) Sattler in Taylor, ND. She was the second youngest of a large family. She was raised in the Taylor, ND area until the age of six, at which time the family moved to CA. At the age of twelve, the family moved back the Taylor, ND area. Emma met and married Joe Stockie on October 5, 1932 in St. Mary?s Church in Richardton, ND. Together they lived in Taylor for a time and then later moved to Richardton, ND. Emma worked at the hospital in Richardton, cooked at the Assumption Abbey, helped Joe in the ?Fix It Shop? and worked at the theatre that the family owned. Emma was a member of the Senior Citizens Center and was also the center?s cook. She enjoyed gardening, canning and raising chickens. Emma was an avid bowler and bowled several nights each week, adding to her collection of ?bowling trophy?s. ? She liked crocheting, especially tablecloths. Emma was never afraid of work; she was always one to help if needed. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart and she loved them dearly. Emma is survived by a son, Sherman and his wife Donna Stockie, Springfield, OR and a daughter, Blanche and her husband Tony DiVito, York Harbor, ME; grandchildren, Faye, Guy and Mark and great grandchild, Michael. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe; two brothers and four sisters.
