Erna Zimmerman

Erna Zimmerman, age 98, of the Marian Manor in Glen Ullin, and formerly of Hebron, died Monday, March 03, 2008, at the Marian Manor. Funeral services will be held at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hebron at 10:30 AM Central Time on Thursday, March 6, 2008. Visitation will be at Spangelo Funeral Home in Hebron on Wednesday, from 2 until 7:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 5:00PM. Burial will be in the First Congregational Cemetery in Hebron. Erna was born on the farm in rural Hebron the daughter of Andrew and Karoline (Sayler) Schneider. She attended rural school and worked on the family farm until she married Rudolph Zimmerman on April 1, 1940. They farmed until 1964 when they retired to Hebron. Erna was a member of the First Congregational Church, and the Brick City Senior Citizens. She was an avid quilter and even after she had lost the sight in one eye she continued to cut and prepare squares for the other quilters at the senior center. She enjoyed animals, and gardening. Erna was a very quiet and soft spoken, she was a very giving and generous person with a great sense of humor and great faith. Erna is survived by several nephews and nieces. Preceded her death is her parents, husband on June 18, 1994, her sisters Lena Layer, and Hilda Schneider, and an infant brother Harold Schneider.
