A Funeral Mass for Ervin Forster, 97, of Richardton, will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Richardton with Father Boniface Muggli, O. S. B. and Father Stephen Kranz, O. S. B. con-celebrating. Burial will take place at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
Visitation for Ervin will be from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Thursday, September 19th at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richardton with a Rosary and Vigil Service being held at 8:00 p.m.
Ervin passed away Friday, September 13, 2013 at Richardton Health Center, Richardton.
Ervin Robert Forster was born June 24, 1916 in Richardton, the oldest of nine children born to John A. and Elizabeth (Brittner) Forster. He was raised in Richardton and lived there all his life, except for his years serving his country in WW II. He was a Staff Sgt. with Company “M”, 23rd Infantry Regiment in the United States Army. In 1941, Ervin and Dorothy A. (Dollie) Fischer were united in marriage. Together, they raised their children, Thomas Henry and Mary Elizabeth. In 1986, he and Marilyn Hutchinson were married. Following his military service, Ervin worked briefly for Born’s Meat Market and then he became a clerk at the local Post Office where he worked until his retirement. He served his community in many ways which included being a member of the Volunteer Fire Department. As the oldest in a large family, he learned early to be both loving and helpful to his brothers and sisters; attributes that continued throughout his life with his own family and extended family and friends. Ervin was an avid gardener, hunter and fisherman. He loved woodworking and he took great pleasure in fixing anything, big or small.
Ervin his survived by his wife, Marilyn; his son, Thomas of Nixa, MO; his daughter, Mary (Jim) LeBrun of Queen Creek, AZ; three grandchildren, Karla (Brian) Howe of Nixa, MO, Eric LeBrun of El Mirage, AZ, and Nicole (Justin) Corey of Gilbert, AZ; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Bill (Della), and Francis (Lavina) of Bismarck, and John (Ardis) of Minnesota; sisters, Lorraine Porter of Grand Forks, Grace Kearns of Georgia, and Florence (John) Campagna of Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by the members of Marilyn’s loving family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; one grandson, Timothy; daughter-in-law, Kathy; and two sisters, Irene Walth and Phyliss Rinker.
