Ervin Stiller, age 82, of Hebron, died Saturday, September 29, 2007 at Medcenter One in Bismarck. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at 10:30 AM Central Time at the St. John Church in Hebron. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007 from 4-8 pm at Spangelo Funeral Home in Hebron with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery with military rites by Henry Biffert Post #100 of which Ervin was a member for 61 years. Ervin was born May 29, 1925 at Eagles Nest, ND, the son of Peter J. and Petrine Maria (Olson) Stiller. He was baptized at Sims Lutheran Church. He was raised at Hebron and attended Hebron School and was a 1943 graduate. He served in the US Naval Air Corp for 2 1/2 years during World War II. On March 9, 1949 he married Muriel Rehm in Hebron. When the Korean War broke out Ervin was recalled in to the service for another 18 months and was awarded the Naval Air Medal. He returned to Hebron and worked at the Post Office first as a clerk then for over 30 years as a rural mail carrier and was awarded the million mile safe driving award. He was a volunteer fireman, and a lifetime member of the North Dakota Firemen?s Assn. He served on the City council for many years, was a past president of the Hebron Credit Union, past Worshipful Master of the Hebron Masonic Lodge, and member of the St. John Church. In his spare time he loved flying and working with horses and cattle. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Muriel, of Hebron and one son Ross, of Hebron; two sisters: Verna Monson, Mandan, ND; and Irene Roth of Clarkston, Wash. ; and one brother Melvin, of Carson, CA, and a number of thoughtful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Thomas, Grover, Lawrence, Donald, Lester, and his sisters Sophie Rehling, and Martha Jarnot.
