Esther Kisse

Funeral Service for Esther Kisse, 94, of Dickinson, will be 2:00 p. m. , Monday, July 11, 2011 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Halliday, ND. Burial will follow at the Halliday Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. MDT, Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. Additional visitation for Esther will be at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Halliday from 11:00 a. m. to 2:00 p. m. MDT, Monday, July 11, 2011. There will be a family prayer service at 1:00 p. m. MDT, Monday July 11, 2011 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. Esther passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at St. Luke?s Home in Dickinson, ND. Esther Koehler was born January 2, 1917 in Krem, North Dakota, the daughter of Joseph and Helena (Weidrich) Koehler. She grew up north of Halliday and attended Pioneer School District. On October 4, 1936, Esther married Adolph Kisse at St. John?s Lutheran Church. Together, they lived on various farmsteads near Halliday. She ranched alongside her husband, raising six children. In 1975, they retired and moved to Halliday where they built a new home. After the death of Adolph in 1992, Esther remained living in her home and active in the community as a member of the Halliday Senior Citizens and a 50 year charter member of the Pioneer Homemakers. She was baptized and confirmed St. John?s Lutheran Church and was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Esther was an avid gardener and was noted for her homemade pickles and fleischkuekle. Esther is survived by five of children: Madella (Willie) Schaper of Beulah, ND, Bernice Fredricks of Castle Rock, CO; Adolph R. (Marilyn) Kisse of Richardton, ND, James Kisse of New Leipzig, ND and Linda (Keith) Perhus of Marshall, ND; three sisters-in-law, Vera Koehler Elsie Kisse and Muriel Kisse all of Bismarck, ND; eighteen grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Helena Koehler, husband, Adolph; one daughter and her husband Yvonne and Myron Glatt; four brothers, Dan Koehler, Oscar (Mollie) Koehler, Herbert Koehler and Oswald Koehler; two sisters, Hilda (Herbert) Miller and Frieda (Herbert) Wolf and three grandchildren, Steven Glatt, Douglas Schaper and Rhonda Schaper.
