A funeral service for Esther J. Korth, 84, of Dickinson, ND will be 1:00 p. m. , Monday, February 2, 2015 at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church, New England with Pastor Bruce Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in Our Redeemers Lutheran Cemetery, New England. Visitation for Esther will be from 1:00 p. m. to 4:00 p. m. , Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson. Esther passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at CHI St. Joseph’s Health in Dickinson. Esther was born June 17, 1930 in Regent, ND, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Yung) Mayer. She attended school in Mott, ND, and helped out on the family farm with raising her siblings. After meeting Vern Korth at a dance in Schefield, Esther and Vern married on August 22, 1955. To this union three children were born: Lana, Dennis and Dean. Esther and Vern farmed and raised their children until 1966, when they moved to New England. Esther worked at Farmers Union until 1975, and worked as a housekeeper until settling in Dickinson. Esther enjoyed baking, cooking, and doing puzzle books. She also found joy in reading, dancing, bowling and golfing. Esther is survived by her daughter, Lana (Clyde) Ruff of Elgin, ND; son, Dean (Kim) Korth of Dickinson; brothers, Virgil Mayer, Marcus Mayer and Herman Mayer; sisters, Delores Krenz, and Grace Davenport; grandchildren, Jed (Robin) Korth, Jeremy Korth, Rachel (Aaron) Hallgren and Alex Korth; five great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern, her parents, John and Elizabeth; one son, Dennis Korth; brothers, Peter Paul, Alfred Mayer Arnold Mayer; sisters, Helen Bartow and Marie Hofer.
