Esther Pederson

Funeral Services for Esther H. Pedersen, 94 of Dickinson formerly of Dunn Center, ND will be 11:00 a. m. Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at the Normana Lutheran Church in Dunn Center. Burial will follow in the Dunn Center Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00 a. m. to 7:00 p. m. Monday, September 11, 2006 at the Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel in Killdeer and continuing one hour prior to service on Tuesday at the church. Esther passed away Friday, September 8, 2006 at the St. Luke?s Home in Dickinson. Esther Helen Swenson was born on May 17, 1912 at Werner, ND the daughter of Hans and Emma (Halvorson) Swenson. She grew up on the family farm and attended school in Werner. Esther attended Dickinson State Teachers College where she received her Teaching certificate. She began her long teaching career and taught for many years in North Dakota. Esther was married to Carl M. Pedersen in Bismarck, North Dakota on June 2, 1947. Along with her teaching in Dunn Center they made their home there for many years. In September of 2000 Esther suffered a stroke and moved to the St. Luke?s Home in Dickinson where she has made her home since. She enjoyed gardening for her vegetables and flowers. Esther and Carl were well know for their beautiful flowers and trees. She was a member of the Normana Lutheran Church in Dunn Center. Survivors include: a sister, Ruth (Ray) Stotz, Bismarck; a sister-in-law Helen Swenson, Payson, AZ and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl in 1974; three brothers: Henry, Sanford and his wife Elsie; and Irvin; three sisters, Inez and her first husband, Erwin Helwig and her second husband, George Smith, Alice Skow and her husband, Woodrow and Olive Miller and her husband, Glen.
