Funeral services for Esther Sailer, 88, of Dickinson, formerly of Hebron, ND will be at 10:30 a. m. , CDT, on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at St. John?s Church in Hebron with Pastor Gaylund Olson officiating. Burial will follow in St. John?s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 p. m. to 8 p. m. MDT on Friday, October 2, 2009 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson and will continue one hour prior to services at the Church. Esther passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at St. Benedict?s Health Care Center in Dickinson. Esther Sailer was born July 7, 1921, the daughter of John and Margaret (Frank) Boehler at a farm house near Hebron, ND. She was the ninth of 13 children. She was a lifelong resident of Hebron, attending Hebron Public Schools. After completing grade school, Esther cared for a brother and sister when her mother died. She also worked at the Sweet Shop Caf? until marriage. On October 14, 1945 she married Oscar Sailer in Hebron. They lived in Dickinson for a short time before returning to Hebron where Oscar worked various jobs. They became the parents of one son, Duane. In the early years, they managed the Hebron Bowling Alley and she was also a member of the St. John?s Women?s Guild. Esther dedicated her life to her family. One of her favorite pastimes was baking. She was well-known for her pies, breads and German cookies. In the later years, she looked forward to weekend visits from her grandchildren, Mark and Carrie. Oscar passed away October 18, 1990 and Esther continued to live independently until entering St. Benedict?s in October, 2004. Esther is survived by her son, Duane (Linda) Sailer, Dickinson, ND; two grandchildren, Mark (Melissa) Sailer, Foothill Ranch, CA and Carrie Sailer, Salt Lake City, UT; two great-grandchildren, Alexander and Cassandra Sailer. She is also survived by a brother, Leroy (Meg) Boehler, Mountain Home, ID; two sisters, Isabelle Jones, Mission Viejo, CA and Donna (Pete) Hildre, Cloquet, MN; sisters-in-law, Vi Boehler, Bozeman, MT and Mildred Boehler, Ashland, OH; a brother-in-law, Ed Pribyl, Dickinson, ND along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Oscar; six sisters, Tillie, Elsie, Frieda, Annie, Alma and Irma and three brothers, Jake, Walter and Milton.
