Graveside services for Eugene Fisk, 90, of Baker, will be 1:00 p. m. Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at Carlyle Cemetery. Eugene passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 at his home in Baker, MT. Eugene Ward Fisk was born January 14, 1926 to Ward and Julia (Hartse) Fisk on the family homestead south west of Carlyle, MT. He grew up around the Carlyle and Ollie area, graduating from the Ollie class of 1943. Eugene was very proud that he jumped up a grade because he was the only student in his grade. After graduating from Ollie High School, Eugene farmed for a couple years before moving into Baker to pursue a different career. Eugene started working for the Montana Highway Department in the spring of 1948. He loved spending time and working with his coworkers: Bill Bohle, Bill Defferding, and Sam Myer. After Eugene’s retirement in the Fall of 1979, he started working for Miller Construction and Wang Feeds. Eugene also cared for his mother until her passing in 1996. Eugene loved spending his time reading history books and was often found watching history on his television. He was also interested in learning about homeopathy and alternative ways of medicine. Eugene was a good mechanic and always enjoyed working on his old cars until he no longer understood the newer models. He was very thankful for the help of his neighbors: Johnny, Carl, and Dale. They were always willing to stop in and help with his day to day needs. Eugene is survived by his nephew; Steve (Julie) Stanhope and their children Lauren (Josh) Celander, Lisa Stanhope, and Lexi Stanhope; niece, Barbara Stanhope and her children Tanner and Jamie Fischer; nephew, Bob (Kristie) Stanhope and their children Nate (Val) Stanhope, Kalli (Jeff) Allen, and Blake Stanhope; and several cousins and family members that held a special place in his heart.
