Eugenia Doll, age 84, of rural New Salem, died Sunday, May 25, 2008 while a resident of the Elm Crest Manor in New Salem. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Central time on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at St. Pius Catholic Church in New Salem. Visitation will begin on Wednesday after 4:00 pm at the church with Vigil Services at 7:00 PM. Burial will be in the St. Pius Cemetery, New Salem. Eugenia was born on July 6, 1923, in the Rosebud area of Oliver County, the daughter of Gabriel and Leona (Ferderer) Hoffman. She was raised near Rosebud and started her education in a country school, and furthered her schooling at New Salem High School. She married George R. Doll on October 15, 1945 at St. Pius. Following marriage they farmed north of New Salem, and raised their family. Eugenia enjoyed her garden, raising the young animals, and especially the time she spent practicing her artist skills by painting. She was a member of the St. Pius Christian Mothers and a homemakers group. In 1982, they retired and bought a small ranch in Victor, MT. In 1986 they returned to New Salem where they have resided since. She enjoyed traveling, talking in German, and time with the grandchildren. Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband of 62 years, George R. Doll, New Salem, her children: Sherril (Marilyn) Doll, Mandan; Lenis Volk, Bismarck; Georgene (Tony) Bender, Agar, SD; Tim (Dianne) Doll, New Salem; Jackie (Clyde) Staiger, Hebron; Randy Doll, Bismarck; Callen Doll, New Salem; Robyn (Donald) Staiger, Hebron; Cordell Doll, New Salem; and her son-in-law Raynard Mosbrucker, Hazen, ND 17 grandchildren and 5 great grand and 3 step great grandchildren. She also leaves her two brothers: Peter Hoffman, Steele, ND; Ray (Gertha) Hoffman, Bismarck; and one sister JoAnn (Ed) Weber, Bismarck and one sister-in-law Marion Hoffman, Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Jerry Lou Mosbrucker, one son-in-law Wayne Volk, her brother Jack Hoffman and her sister Josephine Mosbrucker.
