Evelyn Austin

Funeral services for Evelyn (Nan) Lucille Austin, 80, of Marmarth, will be 2:00 p. m. , Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Baker, MT, with Terry Bagley officiating. Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery. Nan passed away peacefully on the May 22, 2016, at the Fallon Medical Complex Nursing Home in Baker, MT. Nan was born on May 5, 1936, in Bowman, ND to Joy and A. W. (Babe) Graham, the fourth of 11 children. She attended school in Marmarth, ND. Nan spent the majority of her life raising her eight children and in her later years, her grandson and also at times her great-grandchildren. She took great pride in her role as wife, mother and grandmother. While raising her eight children, Nan would at times work at the nursing home in Bowman, ND, deliver mail as a Relief Rural Mail Carrier and work a waitress. Her greatest love was for her husband, Cam, and her family. Even as her children grew up, she was always there, so willing to help in any way she could; even if only to listen and then hug you. Nan was always taking care of or doing something for someone; it seemed to be her calling in life. Nan was most content in the role of caregiver and would always put everyone’s needs before her own. She wouldn’t have had it any other way. She was a gentle, caring and loyal soul. Nan was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 35 years, Cam; sisters, Betty and Gail; and brothers, Max, Jimmy, and Swede. She is survived by daughters, Chris Austin, Connie Schell and husband Ken, Cindy Austin, Doneta Spomer and husband Lee, Diane Hunsaker and husband Darrell; sons, Wayne Austin, John Austin and wife Kim, and Carl Austin. Nan is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all of the caregivers at Superior Care Villa and FMC Nursing Home. The care our Mother received was exceptional and your kindness and caring to us during her final days was immeasurable.
